The Search Designer allows you to define search specifications and execute searches of the database. You can choose from Basic or Advanced Search using the radio buttons at the top of the page. Basic Search includes nine searchable fields; Advanced Search has over 30 searchable fields.
Basic Search
The Basic Search option allows you to select all of your criteria from a single page. It includes the most frequently used search fields, such as Company Name, City, State, Sales, etc.
Simply enter your criteria, and hit the ‘Run Search’ button. If you have entered search criteria on the Basic Search page, and want to move your criteria to the Advanced Search, click ‘Promote Criteria’.
Advanced Search
The Advanced Search enables you to find the companies and contacts you want to target, based on over 30 search fields. The data set you create can be as broad in scope as all companies in New York, or as narrow as privately held dog and cat food manufacturers located within a county. Here’s how it works:
Step 1 – Choose search criteria from within one or more of the search categories: Company, Location, Industry, Size, or Contact Info.
Step 2 – Each search category includes a number of criteria. Enter or select the criteria you wish to add to your search. Optionally, you can also view your selected criteria on the right hand side of the screen by hitting the Add to Criteria button each time you specify criteria. To remove criteria from your search design, click on the value you want to delete in the right-hand portion of your screen.
Note: If you don’t want to limit your search based upon a particular category or criteria, you do not need to specify anything for that category/criteria. For instance, if you want companies of all sizes to appear in your search results, then don’t specify anything in the size category.
Step 3 – Once you’ve entered all of your search criteria, hit Run Search to view the search results.
Note that your search criteria will remain selected until you remove them. To remove all of the search criteria, click Clear Search on the right-hand side of your page view.
